Match report Barwell were the visitors to Broomleys on Saturday, and on a very breezy & wet day, won the toss and elected to field first, in a match reduced to 41 overs per side. Neil Brotherhood & David Wick found the going difficult, with uncertain bounce from the wicket. Brotherhood was the first out, when he was bowled by Kevin Hines for 10 in the 7th over. Wick followed in the 13th over when he was bowled by Nick Hines. Last weeks’ heros’ David Bates & Kevin Joyce tried to push on, but Joyce was trapped LBW by Kevin Hines for 33 with the score on 59 in the 18th over. All the batsmen struggled, with David Bates once again holding the innings together. When Bates was finally dismissed in the 38th over for 45, the Broomleys score had reached 134, with a stand of 31 between Bates & Elson Johnson being the highlight of the match. When Jonathan Orchiston was bowled by Nick Hines in the 41st over, Broomleys had reached 144. The rain then intervened and no further play was possible in the match, with both sides getting 8 points each from the tie.
