Broomleys Cricket Club 2nd XI v Market Bosworth on Sat 26 Apr 2008 at 2:00
Broomleys Cricket Club Lost by 8 wickets
Match report
Broomleys 2nd XI entertained Market Bosworth on saturday at Blackwood looking to get their campaign off to a good start. Broomleys skipper Mick Barton lost the toss and was put into bat on a green but firm track. The going was tough early on and Broomleys were soon in trouble losing both openers in quick succesion. Hextall and Patel rebuilt briefly but Hextall fell trying to force the pace and Read followed soon after. Barton and Patel again rebuilt briefly but they both fell to accurate Bosworth bowling leaving Broomleys struggling to post a defendable total. Youngsters Hall and Broster fought hard at the end but Broomleys were bowled out for 108 in the last over.
Bosworths opening pair too found the going tough early on especially against the pace and movement of young Dave Broster who beat the bat regularly during the Bosworth innings, unfortnately for Broomleys he couldnt find the break through he deserved and is was Newman who broke the opening partnership caught behind by Barton. Broster finally got his reward in his second spell trapping the Bosworth number 3 leg before. Broomleys worked hard but they simply didnt bat well enough and Bosworth eventually crossed the line to win by 8 wickets with 18 overs remaining. Broomleys 2nd XI travel to Barkby next week looking for better luck with the ball.
