Match report Broomleys 2nd XI hosted local rivals Shepshed Town on Saturday looking to claim more valuable points in their bid to beat the drop. Broomleys skipper Hextall won the toss and had no hesitation in bowling first on a damp green looking track. Broomleys were immediately on top as Morris struck in his first over and then knocked over the next 3 while Sam Chambers at the other end struck to leave Shepshed in tatters at 44 for 5. Jack Chambers replaced brother Sam and the change paid off as he had the Shepshed number 6 brilliantly caught behind by Sarratt. Kev Wardle came on to mop up the tail with miserly figures of 2 for 5 from 8 overs while Morris claimed a well deserved 5th for only 27 runs leaving Shepshed all out for 84

The Broomleys reply was steady but not spectacular as Shepshed tried to squeeze every run but Joyce soon took a liking to opener Gibson dispatching him for 12 in one over. Joyce was eventually out for 20 and fellow opener Wick was lbw for 10 but Broomleys were already half way their. Skipper Hextall showed the way with an unbeaten 30 and Concannon not out 18 as Broomleys coasted home by 7 wickets with 30 overs to spare.
