Match report Broomleys 2nd XI welcomed Cropston to Blackwood on Saturday looking to continue their excellent run of recent form. Cropston won the toss and elected to bat first on a wicket heavily effected by the recent rain. The Broomleys opening pair of Grainger and Sam Chambers bowled well early on without threatening until Sam removed opener Torrance brilliantly caught by brother Jack at Short extra cover and this sparked Broomleys to life. Dave Broster returning from injury removed the other opener and Kev Joyce and Kev Wardle took the remaining 7 wickets between them for only 30 runs as Cropston crumbled to 86 all out.

The Broomleys reply started cautiously as Cropston found their line and length early on. Newman and Wick were both removed early to leave Broomleys 22 for 2. Broomleys skipper Hextall was joined at the crease by Read but he too perished for only 4. Hextall mean while took a liking to the Cropston medium pace and began to pick up the pace, he deposited opener Torrance for 6 over long on and then hit spinner Hunted for another straight six as he took Broomleys home with a superb unbeaten 47 and maxium points for Broomleys.
