Match report Broomleys 2nd XI travelled to far away Melton Mwobray looking to make it 5 wins out of the last 6. Melton won the toss an elected to bat first on a grassy but try track. The opening pair of Broster and Chambers gave nothing away and soon claimed a wicket each to go with a brilliant run out from Concannon to leave Melton 9 for 3. Melton number 4 Potter played some expansive counter attacking strokes but he too departed for 34 and only number 7 Stevenson(29) contributed after as Melton were eventually bowled out for 128, Sam Bingley claiming 3 for 25 in 6 overs.

The Broomleys reply started badly as Newman was lbw for just 8 but opening partner Neil Brotherhood showed his class as he cut and drove too good effect. Brotherhood was joined by skipper Hextall and the pair began to tuck into the Melto bowling. Brotherhood passed 50 and Hextall raced along as they put on an unbroken stand of 91 to take Broomleys home, Brotherhood finishing 69 not out and Hextall 38 not out.
